This is ultimately a story of how plans can change. When we first met our clients, Christopherson Builders had been referred to them by a friend, so they came in and talked to to us about their interest in buying land and building a new home. They had identified a location of that might work, but needed some assistance with evaluating what could be built on the property, and also wanted to explore their building options. We evaluated the lot – a beautiful property, but once done it sounded like the undertaking was going to be a bit more than they were looking for. However, as we had spent time with them, and began to understand more and more about what they wanted in their new home, it sounded more and more like we already had what they were looking for – almost.
What were they looking for? A home of a particular size range, and definitely single level. A certain location within Sonoma County, and a property size of at least a third of an acre. They also wanted to be able to enjoy a lovely view from their backyard, and bonus points if the home would be ready sooner than later. As it happened, Christopherson Builders was almost halfway through building a new Collection home that would be ready in 5-6 months time. The home checked all the boxes, and best of all there was still time to choose many of the materials to be incorporated into the interior design.

Having already broken ground, the exterior style and floorplan of the home was set – the necessary approvals and permits having already been obtained. However, the interior was not. As we do our purchasing in a cadence that optimizes the timing of our builds, there was still plenty of opportunity to make selections on items that had not yet been purchased and ordered. Our clients definitely wanted to modernize the interior, and have a sleek, clean finish in their home.
In this particular Christopherson library plan (Plan 61) there is an incredible, super spacious dreamy kitchen. Our clients decided on a duo-tone cabinetry option, with a shaker style and sand oak finish for the lower cabinets and swiss coffee on the upper cabinets. Because this ceiling is a soaring 12′, the cabinets do not go all the way to the ceiling – a ladder would be required to get up there! Instead, we finished the cabinets with trim for a polished look. Our clients opted to continue the quartzite stone selection from the countertops to the backsplash for a sleek and seamless finish. The pride and joy of the kitchen is their Miele coffee system, a highly personal appliance selection. All of the above and more curated a finish that truly reflected their unique and elevated style.
Christopherson Builders only offers a few homes to market each year. As this story demonstrates, typically about half of our new homes will be sold prior to completion.
