Rebuilding California Homes and Communities After Wildfires Our Responsibility

Bringing You Home. Our Mission

We know first-hand how difficult it is to lose your home and community.  Following the Tubbs wildfires in 2017 we made it our mission to focus on rebuilding homes that had been lost.  Since then we have continued this work, rebuilding California homes after the Atlas, LNU, Kincaide & Glass wildfires.

Managing Partner & Founder Brenda Christopherson put it best:  We had a responsibility.  We had a responsibility to our homeowners, to our community and simply to do the right thing.

After seeing the devastation in Southern California we knew that we could not ignore the dire situation that Los Angeles communities are facing.  Therefore, we are now offering our rebuild service in Altadena, Pacific Palisades and Malibu.

Helping you get back home is our most fulfilling and meaningful work as home builders.

Your Path Home Rebuild process steps – simplified

Rebuilding can feel daunting, but it can also feel hopeful and inspiring. Our entire team is dedicated to bringing you home as quickly as possible, without cutting corners on quality. Here is a quick look at how we will help you to come home.

Lot Evaluation

The first step is determining the best cadence to prepare for your new home build, and that may differ from property to property. A “boots on the ground” evaluation will be performed by our team.

Home Design

We will work with you on your custom architecture – or to select a pre-engineered library plan for your future home, based on your preferences and your property.

Letter of Intent or Pre-Construction Agreement

The is a pre-construction contract in which a deposit is placed to be used to start civil engineering, architecture and permitting work.

Start Pre-Construction

We coordinate and contract all consulting services needed for permit submission such as, but not limited to, architect, geotechnical engineer, soils and structural engineers, title 24, and Cal Green consultants.

Working with your Insurance

Once your Letter of Intent is signed, we can assist with providing a line-item budget of our estimated total cost to your insurance adjuster.

Sign a Construction Agreement

This is where you formally select us as your builder and sign an agreement for a total contract price. If you need a construction loan, we can refer you to a list of recommended sources and we will assist with gathering any information required by your lender.

Interior Design

You will have many high-quality standard selections and a wide array of designer upgraded finishes to choose from, to personalize your home to your style.

During the Rebuild

We will work with you and your insurance adjuster and/or mortgage company to pay for the rebuild costs throughout the entire build process.  Your home building portal provides you with weekly updates on progress.

Coming Home

Just prior to move-in, our construction team will walk you though your new home, introducing you to all of your homes’ new features and components.

Here Today & Tomorrow

After you move in Christopherson Builders will still be with you. We provide a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty for workmanship, systems and structural components, for your peace of mind.

Estimating for Insurance rebuilding

When facing rebuilding, filing an insurance claim is one of the first steps that is needed.

An accurate rebuild estimate is likely required by the carrier and it is vital to conduct a comprehensive replacement cost evaluation.  A rebuild estimate should take into account the cost of building code upgrades, actual current cost to rebuild the home and additional fees for associated soft costs of rebuilding.

If desired, Christopherson Builders will provide this service for our customers at a cost of $2,500.
